Newly obtained crash footage from the Hamptons on Monday shows Alec Baldwin crashing his car into a mailbox before crashing into a tree.
Dashcam footage of the commercial truck obtained by Newsmax shows the truck exiting the parking lot and making a right turn. Soon, Baldwin’s white Range Rover pulled into a white mailbox and into a large tree to the right of the truck.
The mailbox is destroyed and Baldwin opens the driver’s side door after the collision.
In an Instagram video shared on Monday night, the actor claimed he was run over by a truck “as big as a whale” and crashed into a tree. Baldwin also revealed that he attended the Hamptons International Film Festival with his brother Stephen Baldwin, driving his wife Hilaria’s car.
“This guy cut me off. A big garbage truck…a garbage truck the size of a whale. It was the biggest garbage truck I’ve ever seen,” he said. “To avoid hitting him, I hit a tree. I hit a big, thick tree and crushed my wife’s car.”
“I am very sorry that I hit my wife’s car,” he added. “But it’s okay, me and my brother are okay.”
Hilaria also reassured fans that her husband and brother-in-law are safe in an Instagram video she posted on Monday.
“No one was hurt, that’s the most important thing,” she said.
Police confirmed they responded to a motor vehicle crash on State Route 27 and Pantigo Road near Cross Highway on Monday at approximately 12:01 p.m. ET.
“It was discovered that a white 2023 Range Rover driven by Alec Baldwin and passenger Stephen Baldwin attempted to avoid the turning action of a 2020 Mack commercial truck registered with the National Waste Service in Bay Shore, New York, when it struck a tree on the shoulder of an eastbound roadway,” East Hampton Town Police Chief Michael D. Sarlo said in a statement.
“No injuries were reported, no citations were issued, and contributing factors to the accident were determined to be an uninvolved vehicle and a reaction to slippery, wet road conditions.”
According to photos of the accident obtained exclusively by Page Six, Hilaria’s car was severely damaged. The front end of the Range Rover was crumpled by the impact of the crash.
A large blue National Waste Service truck was also photographed at the scene.
Alec, looking gloomy, spoke to the police officer in the photo and called him on his mobile phone.
