Lt. Joe Leaphorn uncovers the latest case in the first look teaser for Season 4 of AMC and AMC+’s thriller series Darkwinds, which returns on February 15, 2026. The new season will consist of eight hour-long episodes.
Based on the “Leaphorn & Chee” book series and adapted by Graham Rowland, “Dark Winds” is set in the 1970s and tells the story of members of the Navajo Nation’s police force solving mysteries on a reservation surrounded by violent crime.
Zahn McClarnon will serve as executive producer and star as Lieutenant Joe Leaphorn. He is also planning to make his directorial debut next season.
Rounding out the cast are Kiowa Gordon as Jim Chi, Jessica Matten as Bernadette Manuelito, and Deanna Allison as Emma Leaphorn.
According to the official description, Season 4 will “focus on the search for a missing Navajo girl, taking Leaphorn, Chi, and Manuelito from the safety of the Navajo tribe to the rugged terrain of 1970s Los Angeles in a race against time to rescue her from a relentless killer with ties to organized crime.”
Season 4 will also introduce new cast members, including Franka Potente as Irene Vagan, Isabelle Deroy-Olson as Billy Tsosie, Chask Spencer as Sonny, Luke Barnett as FBI Special Agent Tobey Shaw, and Titus Welliver as Dominic McNair.
Martinez is set to return in season 4 as Gordo Sena, the acting chief of the Scarborough Police Department.
John Worth will serve as showrunner. The series is executive produced by the late Robert Redford, Martin, Roland, Worth, McClarnon, Chris Eyre, Tina Elmo, Jim Cholly, Thomas Brady, Max Hurwitz, Vince Gerardis, and Anne Hillerman.
