A new comic series based in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender will be released this spring from Dark Horse Comics and the makers of the original Nickelodeon animated series.
The story, titled “Avatar: The Last Airbender — Kyoshi Warriors,” was developed in collaboration with Avatar Studios and “Avatar: The Last Airbender” co-creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, and will be told in three monthly installments.
According to the official description for “Avatar: The Last Airbender: The Void Warriors,” “Suki and the Void Warriors leave their home island to join the war against the Fire Nation. Faced with suspicion and resentment from the people of the mainland, they struggle to prove their worth to the Earth Kingdom. But when that opportunity comes, will they compromise their values as Void Warriors to accept it?”
This three-issue series is written by Brandon Hoáng (The Crossbow of Destiny), illustrated by BellBessa (Avatar: The Last Airbender – Ramen Rumble) and Xanthe Bouma, colored by Adele Matera (Avatar: The Last Airbender – Ashes of the Academy), and illustrated by Comiccraft’s Jimmy Betancourt (Ghostbusters: Dead Man’s Chest) is writing letters.

The first of three issues of Avatar: The Last Airbender: Warriors will be released in comic book stores on May 6th and is available for pre-order now. Each 22-page issue costs $4.99.
Dark Horse has already partnered with the Avatar: The Last Airbender series on multiple comic books and graphic novels, and this new collection was announced ahead of the premiere of Netflix’s live-action television series version of the show.
