A new soccer agent thriller from Rivals star Danny Dyer is now heading to the American film market with a new title, UK distributor and release date confirmed.
“One Last Deal,” previously titled “Three Quick Breaths,” was acquired by Sky in the UK, with Blacktop International participating in global sales.
Vertigo Releasing will release the film theatrically in the UK and Ireland on March 13th, and it will be released as a Sky Original on Sky Cinema later this year.
Billed as a fast-paced pressure-cooker thriller, “One Last Deal” will see Dyer play Jimmy Banks, an old-school football agent. He is the one who must get the last big salary before the star player’s life and reputation are ruined. Filming took place mostly in one location (Banks’ office), with Dyer, a much-loved British figure, making her only on-screen appearance. “In a way, I feel like this is my Hamlet,” he said when Variety magazine first announced the piece.
“I’m a huge sports fan and have always been fascinated by the art of negotiation. ‘One Last Deal’ marries both a nail-biting thriller and a masterpiece of performance by veteran British actor Danny Dyer. I made pursuing and securing international rights a top priority,” said JD Beaufils of Blacktop International.
One Last Deal is produced by Paul Kennedy (Nightride) for Village Films, Richard Bolger (Father, Mother, Sister, Brother) for Hail Mary Pictures and Patrick O’Neill (Kneecap) for Wildcard, with support from Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen. The film was shot in Ireland and post-production took place in Northern Ireland.
Executive producers include Sunrise Film principals Rupert Preston and Ed Caffrey, as well as Lumiere Ventures’ Richard Le Chartier and Xavier Collins. Greg Martin is Screen Ireland’s Executive Producer. The lenders are CFF2 and Three Point Capital.
Mr Preston and Mr Caffrey of Vertigo Releasing, and Andrew Nagar of Sunrise Film, said: “We are thrilled to be working with Sky Movies in the UK and Blacktop internationally.” “The combination of Danny Dyer’s talent and a truly powerful film is sure to excite audiences in the UK and around the world.”
Mr Dyer is repped by Giacomo Palazzo of Independent Talent and Brendan Muldowney is represented by Sarah Williams of Independent Talent.
