Danielle Brooks’ daughter is already having her diva moment, and she’s only 6 years old.
The Peacemaker star, 36, spoke to PEOPLE on the red carpet at the ABT Fall Gala and revealed that her six-year-old daughter Freeya with husband Dennis Jaerin is a little Beyoncé in training.
When asked if her daughter has started dance lessons, Brooks said she is already well versed in tap and ballet.
“She’s learning dances like tap and ballet, and I got to see her perform. My daughter performed and she was like Beyoncé, because she found herself out in front of everyone and really had her own Beyoncé moment,” she explains. “It was really cute.”
“A diva in training,” the proud mother added.

Brooks also said her daughter is helping her mother get into the Halloween spirit.
“My daughter helps me participate in Halloween because I’m not really into Halloween, but we decorate the house, do arts and crafts, and I dress up in a leotard and dress up as a curvaceous cow,” Brooks says. “It’s going to be cute.”
In November 2023, Brooks shared a sweet video on Instagram of her daughter Freeya watching the trailer for The Color Purple for the first time. Freeya, who was filming a video of her daughter watching The Little Mermaid as a mother-daughter duo in a theater, excitedly exclaimed, “It’s you!” to her mother on the screen.
“It’s you! It’s you!” the trailer continues, with Freeya saying to her mother with increasing excitement: “It’s you! It’s you!” “Mommy!” the toddler said as the mother laughed off-screen.
“A few months ago, I took my daughter to see ‘The Little Mermaid’ for her first movie theater experience,” Brooks wrote in the caption. “When the trailers for @thecolorpurple started rolling, I knew I had to capture this special moment where a daughter sees her mother on the big screen for the first time.”
“You all know I was in a puddle of tears. It’s so special to me to be able to leave something for my daughter that she’ll always be proud of. I’m so grateful for moments like this. 💜”
“I hope you come see this movie on Christmas Day and create unforgettable moments with your loved ones. 💜💜💜,” she concluded her caption.
In her cover story for Parents magazine’s May 2021 issue, Brooks described the experience of giving birth as “really taxing physically and mentally,” and how she is currently working on her well-being as a working mother.
“I gained a lot of weight during my pregnancy and I think I definitely suffered from postpartum depression,” Brooks said. “I was trying to stay positive when it felt like the world was turned upside down. Creating a human being takes a huge toll on a woman’s body, and sometimes we don’t give ourselves enough love or patience for it.”
“You may think you’ll miraculously recover, but for many people, that’s not true, and I’m one of them,” she continued. “I want to get back to my pre-baby size, but at the same time, I want to love the skin I have now.”
