A spin-off of “Victorious” titled “Hollywood Arts” is being turned into a series on Netflix and several other places.
Variety has learned that the streamer has commissioned 26 episodes of the new series, which is scheduled to debut on Netflix in 2026 and then be released on Nickelodeon and Paramount+.
“Victorious” star Daniela Monet will reprise her role as Trina Vega, returning to star and executive produce the new show. Production on “Hollywood Arts” is expected to begin in Vancouver in the coming weeks.
Production on the series was first reported earlier this year, but only on Nickelodeon. All episodes of the original series are currently available on Netflix in the US, and the streamer says it has been viewed 45 million times since the beginning of 2024. Also available on Paramount+.
“Victorious” originally aired on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2010 to 2013. The cast includes Ariana Grande, Victoria Justice, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett, Elizabeth Gillies, and Avan Jogia.
In addition to Monet, the new cast of Hollywood Arts includes Alyssa Miles (Alyssa and Xavier), Emmy Liu-Wang (Raven’s Home, Slumber Party), Peyton Jackson (Woman in the Yard, Young Dylan) and Erica Swayze (School Spirit, Davey and the Jones Locker, Working). Martin Kamm (The Unsung Heroes, Web of Spider-Man). Yvette Nicole Brown will guest star.
“I am so fortunate and grateful to be returning as Trina with such a dynamic and strong new cast,” Monet said. “Victorious was a film that changed the lives of all of us in so many ways. The cast was forever bonded by the experience. To have the opportunity to direct something close to that is an indescribable feeling. As actresses, producers, and mothers, I want to create something that we can all be proud to share with the world.”
The official logline reads: “When struggling actress Trina Vega (Monet) returns to her former high school, Hollywood Arts, as an underqualified substitute teacher, she soon finds herself unexpectedly inspired while clashing with a new generation of ambitious and talented students as she learns to find her true path at Hollywood’s most elite performing arts school.”
Jake Farrow and Samantha Martin will write, executive produce and showrun Hollywood Arts. Jonathan Judge will executive produce and direct the pilot episode. As previously mentioned, Monet will also direct the series. The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios. Production on the series will be overseen by Shawna Phelan, Nickelodeon’s executive vice president of live-action series and films, and Brian Banks, executive producer.
Farrow previously provided the voice of ventriloquist Dummy Rex and also served as a producer on the original series.
This is the second spin-off of “Victorious,” following “Sam & Cat.” The series saw Grande reprise her role as Cat Valentine alongside “iCarly” star Jennette McCurdy, who played Sam Puckett. The show aired for one season.
“Victorious” creator Dan Schneider is not affiliated with “Hollywood Arts.” Schneider was previously a major driving force behind Nickelodeon programming during the days of “Victorious,” but parted ways with the show in 2018 after multiple allegations of misconduct and creating a toxic work environment surfaced. His time at Nickelodeon was well documented in the documentary series Quiet on the Set.
