Val Chmerkovskiy was hospitalized due to dizziness during the “Dancing with the Stars” live tour.
The professional dancer shared an Instagram video over the weekend clearing up a “little hiccup” he was experiencing.
“I’ve been suffering from dizziness for the past few days,” the 39-year-old explained to his followers. “I got it yesterday and was able to get through the show. Then I ran some tests.”
Chmerkovskiy said he felt like he was “spinning everywhere.”
“That little crystal in equilibrium, again, I’m learning a lot. Once it’s gone, it’s really hard to get it back,” the performer added of the experience of vertigo, defined (by the Mayo Clinic) as vertigo. “So…I woke up on the moving bus and couldn’t organize my feelings.”
As for Chmerkovskiy’s possible return, he told fans that since Monday is a day off for the cast, he hopes to return to the stage on Tuesday.
The ABC personality then sent an “apology to all the fans who came to see him” while he was in Peoria, Illinois, in a selfie posted on his Stories.
“Thank you to my fellow cast members for coming together,” he continued. “There’s a little bit of a bump, but you’re ready to go. Literally, not being able to stand on your own feet means staying away from that stage. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it tonight.”
Chmerkovskiy’s fellow “DWTS” pros sent their support in the comments on Instagram.
Sharna Burgess wrote: “I’m so dizzy. I’m so sorry, baby. Get well soon xx,” while his wife Jenna Johnson added: “😢❤️🩹.”
Season 34 contestant Dylan Efron chimed in, writing, “Val, I feel sorry for you. The dizziness is awful. It happened right before DWTS and it cleared up quickly. Rest and get your crystals in order ❤️.”
The “DWTS” tour will begin in January and run until March 13th.
Chmerkovskiy has been on the show since Season 2 in 2006, but didn’t turn professional until five years later.
Since then, he has won the Mirrorball trophy three times with Rumer Willis, Laurie Hernandez and Xochitl Gomez.
Chmerkovskiy and partner Alix Earle were runners-up in the most recent season, which ended in November 2025.
