Dan Bongino, a former Fox News Channel weekend host who went on to become FBI deputy director, will return to the cable news station as a contributor, the network confirmed Monday.
Bongino is scheduled to appear on “Hannity” Monday night to discuss the case of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, who has been missing for more than a week.
The move marks a return to old media circles for Bongino, once one of the most right-leaning figures at Fox News. His popularity previously stemmed from his integrity as a New York City police officer and his long service as a U.S. Secret Service agent.
He also hosted a popular radio show, and his old show replaced the long-running one hosted by Rush Limbaugh. Bongino’s hour-long radio show for Westwood One also aired briefly on the Fox Nation streaming service.
His first job as a contributor for Fox News began in 2019, and by 2021 he was hosting the weekend show “Unfiltered With Dan Bongino.” He left the company in 2023, citing difficulties in agreeing new terms for his next contract. “You know, I’ve had hits there for 10 years and worked there… so it was tough for the show to end,” he said on a 2023 podcast. “And I want you to know that this is not some big conspiracy. I promise you, there is no vitriol. This is not a brawl between WWE. We just couldn’t agree on an extension.”
