Dakota Johnson is getting serious about growing up in the spotlight.
In an interview with German Vogue magazine published on Tuesday, October 21, the 36-year-old actress opened up about what life is like with her famous parents.
Johnson is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith and actor and singer-songwriter Don Johnson. She is also the stepdaughter of Antonio Banderas, whom Griffith was married to from 1996 to 2015.
“When I was little, there were times when I was really, really scared. When we went to the supermarket or whatever, people would try to get close to my mom in aggressive, physical ways,” she recalled.

Dakota added, “If you accept it as a normal thing like a child, it can lead to a lot of complexes.”
“And of course the fact that you’re in public and the world knows about your private life in a very invasive, rude and painful way,” she continued. “Yes, there are downsides, but there are also incredible upsides. I guess it’s like anything.”
Dakota admitted that she didn’t understand what Hollywood was when she was a child.
“I grew up on set, so I was always surrounded by people who made movies,” she said. “I mean, I was born in Texas because my father worked there. So I always knew that my family’s occupation was different than, say, my friends at school whose mom went to work every day.”

She added that it was difficult to make friends as she was “on the go a lot” as a child.
“But I always accepted it. This is what we do. It’s in our blood,” she said.
The Materialist star has six siblings through his mother and father.
Don shares actress Patti d’Arbanville with Jesse, 42. He and his wife, Kelly Pfleger, are also parents to Atherton Grace, 25, Jasper Breckenridge, 23, and Deacon James, 19.
Griffith welcomed Alexander Griffith, 40, along with actor Stephen Bauer. She also shares 29-year-old Stella del Carmen with Banderas.
