Dakota Johnson loves nude dresses.
Johnson, who is the cover star of Vogue Germany’s November 2025 issue, spoke about her red carpet style and her penchant for sheer looks, which consistently rank among Hollywood’s best-dressed women.
As for the naysayers who say the 36-year-old should cover up more regularly, Mr Johnson was unconcerned.
To those who called her sheer appearance “too sexy,” Johnson frankly replied, “I really don’t care.”
That doesn’t mean she wears every last-minute style. “Sometimes those dresses look good on me. But some of the dresses I tried on didn’t suit me at all.” “It depends on the shape, finish, color, and everything else. So if I find a beautiful dress that I feel comfortable in, of course I want to wear it!”
“And I enjoy wearing sexy dresses,” she jokes.
In an interview, Johnson talked about how she grew up in an environment that embraced a healthy body image.
“My mother was very open about the topic of bodies,” explains Johnson, who is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith. She continued, “She taught us how to value our bodies, how to love them, and that our bodies are beautiful. And I think that’s really important for young girls because we keep being told that we’re not good enough…That was a huge gift that she gave me.”
However, the actress is still a big supporter of the naked dress trend and she looks amazing in it.
Most recently, she attended the Zurich Film Festival wearing a striking Gucci number made from sheer blue lace, including a full-skirted bottom and a completely see-through long-sleeved top.
She also opted for a sheer Gucci dress made of black lace in New York City in early September, revealing a balconette bra and string bikini panties underneath.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson also doubled down on the last-minute dress trend in May and June last year. She wore a sheer Nenshi Dojaka dress for Late Night with Seth Meyers, followed by a translucent Gucci dress for the Cannes Film Festival.
Whether she’s rocking near-nude designs or fully covered-up looks, Johnson’s confident approach to wearing whatever clothes she sees fit is actually quite refreshing.
And it doesn’t hurt that her style is always on point.
