Sony-owned anime streamer Crunchyroll will debut a 24/7 channel of select fan-favorite series on Samsung TV Plus starting Wednesday.
The Crunchyroll channel on Samsung TV Plus, Samsung’s streaming service for smart TV products, will include several anime-focused titles at launch, including Yu Yu Hakusho, Assassination Classroom Black Clover, and Eternal Kimi e.
According to Crunchyroll, the Crunchyroll channel will feature English subtitled and dubbed series, and will roll out additional genres, themes, and promotional program blocks over time to showcase the depth and diversity of Japanese anime storytelling.
In addition, the network will air all episodes of Crunchyroll’s podcast, Crunchyroll Presents: The Anime Effect, which “offers an entryway for those interested in anime into the broader world of the medium.”
Crunchyroll’s renowned subscription streaming service currently houses over 25,000 hours and 50,000 episodes of anime content. The “Premium” tier costs $7.99, and the streamer will continue to be Crunchyroll’s primary destination for new animated series and new episodes of existing licensed titles.
The launch of Samsung’s Crunchyroll Channel further expands the partnership between the two companies, which partnered last year to bring the Crunchyroll app to Samsung TV Plus.
“Crunchyroll is committed to making anime more accessible than ever, and the launch of the Crunchyroll channel on Samsung is another step in ensuring that we can enjoy anime wherever fans want to enjoy anime,” Mitchell Berger, head of global commerce at Crunchyroll, said in a statement to Variety on Wednesday. “We are excited to offer fans and those new to anime a curated, always-on way to experience their favorite stories and characters directly from their Samsung smart TVs.”
