What you need to know
Cruz Beckham is getting racy!
The 20-year-old musician released a new song, “Optics,” on Friday, October 24th, and the lyrics are NSFW.
“Take a thousand selfies in your bed while I’m tripping in mine/I love mushrooms and a good head and an erotic 69,” he sings on the track.
“Stay high fashion, don’t get down or crash/But you wanna know what it looks like, I wanna know how it feels,” he continues in the chorus.
Despite the song’s risqué nature, the music video depicts Beckham and his bandmates singing in a field, wearing fall sweaters and playing with a puppy. In fact, Victoria and David Beckham’s youngest son said the song was not about sex at all.
In a comment on Beckham’s Instagram post teasing the music video, one person wrote: “I don’t understand why the first song had to be about sex. They could have written anything but they decided to go gruesome so please keep it PG sunshine.”

Beckham responded with applause: “Actually, this song isn’t about sex. It’s about perception and reality. It’s about modern optics, how everything isn’t what it seems, how we judge others and situations based on what we see, and learning to care more about ourselves and those closest to us than strangers think.”
“Ironically, there’s nothing wrong with good sex,” he concluded.
In addition to “Optics,” Beckham released a second single called “Lick the Toad.” The musician, who released his first single ‘If Every Day Was Christmas’ in December 2016, has started writing songs with The Kooks frontman Luke Pritchard.
“We started writing songs together and became friends. I just want to help him navigate[his music career],” the “Naive” singer told The Sun in March.

In the same interview, Pritchard said the young rising star is “rightly going to face criticism because of who his parents are. He knows that.”
“It was great when he said, ‘Jesus was a Nepobaby too,'” Pritchett told the magazine. “I thought that was a very interesting reaction.”
In late 2023, Victoria shared a video of Cruise performing an impromptu performance at a local pub. Cruz joined another musician to perform the Beatles’ “Come Together,” giving him the chance to show off his skills with a guitar solo.
“@cruzbeckham Spontaneous performance at the pub last night! 👏 Kissed @davidbeckham,” the mother of four captioned the Instagram video.
