HBO is developing a series based on the upcoming book, “Fort Bragg Cartel: Drug Trafficking and Murder,” which investigates Narco’s trafficking and unsolved murders within the US Special Forces unit stationed in Fort Bragg.
Cableter says that journalist and military veteran Seth Harp has won the rights to the book he wrote in the competitive bidding war. HBO is currently looking for writers and showrunners to lead the series.
“The Fort Bragg Cartel” is scheduled to debut on the New York Times bestseller list on Sunday, August 31st. The book began as an investigation into the 2020 double murder of two American soldiers stationed at Fort Bragg, revealing a wave of drug trafficking, unsolved killings and corruption. It details how military veterans smuggled drugs into the United States from countries like Iraq and Afghanistan and were caught up in cartels, revealing a network of conspiracies helped by corrupt police and military cover-ups.
The series is an executive produced by Harp alongside former HBO Films president Len Amato, and will be through the company’s crash & salvage.
Harp is an investigative journalist and foreign correspondent who report on various outlets such as the New York Times, New Yorkers, and Rolling Stones from countries such as Iraq, Syria, Mexico and Ukraine. Before becoming a reporter, he practiced law in Texas for five years, served in the US Army Reserve at universities and law schools, and served one mission in Iraq. He is represented by the CAA.
