Films scheduled to be screened at the Coronado Island Film Festival include Gus van Sant’s Deadman’s Wire and Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value.

“Deadman’s Wire” marks the start of the film festival on November 5th. A new psycho-thriller robbery directed by Van Santo, the film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in September, and later screened in Toronto and Chicago. Starring Bill Skarsgard, Al Pacino, Colman Domingo and Kaylee Elwys.

The festival on November 9th is Sentimental Value, a family drama directed by Trier, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and won the Grand Prix. Starring Renate Rhineve, Stellan Skarsgard, Inga Evesdotter Lileas and Elle Fanning.

Other notable and featured films that will be screened during the festival include Aaron Davidman’s American Solitaire, Hugo Bianvene’s Alco, Noah Baumbach’s Jay Kelly, Nicholas Heitner’s The Coral, Kleber Mendonsa Filho’s Secret Agent, and Clint Bentley’s Thein Dreams. Several documentaries and short shows will also be shown throughout the week.

“This lineup reflects both where we have been and where we are heading. It’s bold, diverse and looking to the future. CIFF continues to celebrate the golden age of cinema, while building bridges to the next era through independent voices, innovation and connections with our community. The way we experience films may evolve, but the magic of sharing films together in cinemas remains irreplaceable. Its collective heartbeat is why.” Festivals like us are now more important than ever. ”

The festival will host special events such as the “Culinary Cinema Series,” which focuses on the intersection of food and film, and “Beatlemania Comes to the Coronado,” which features the West Coast premiere of Paul McCartney’s documentary “Tug of War.” There will also be many panels featuring film and entertainment leaders, creators and innovators.

The Coronado Island Film Festival will host its annual Leonard Martin Industrial Tribute Gala on its first night at the island’s famous Hotel Del Coronado. They will then celebrate independent and emerging filmmakers at the Jury Awards ceremony on November 7th.

Tickets and the complete program are available on the festival website.
