Corey Feldman isn’t letting his previous comments about Maksim Chmerkovskiy’s “difficult” behavior stand by, according to his latest blistering attack on “Dancing with the Stars” and its alleged “toxic” environment.
“There was a lot of stupidity in the mess that was going on behind the scenes,” Feldman, 54, told the Daily Mail on Saturday.
“Actually, everything was great there. But the behind-the-scenes drama and BS that people throw around that show, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s the worst, I mean, the most toxic.”
The “Stand By Me” star admitted he was “not thrilled” to return to the show in the season 34 finale due to the constant negativity among the stars.
“Everyone gets along well on set,” he said. “Everyone’s great. Everyone’s happy. They’re working hard. They don’t even have time to look up. They’re just working.”
“But then you start reading things in the paper like, ‘This person is mad at this person. These people aren’t talking to each other.'” Or, ‘Are people working hard enough?’
“So where does this come from? I asked[my professional dance partner Jenna Johnson]’Where does this come from?’ She was like, ‘Oh, it’s just Max.’ She rolled her eyes. She’s like, “Oh, that’s just Max.” Don’t pay attention to him. He just wants attention. ‘Oh my god,’ he told the media about the drama surrounding him.
Representatives for Mr. Chmerkovskiy, Mr. Johnson and “Dancing with the Stars” did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
In September, Chmerkovskiy, 45, told the Daily Mail that Feldman had given his sister-in-law Johnson a “difficult” time this season, hindering her chances of winning.
“Obviously, Jenna is on a bit of an uphill climb in her relationship with Cory. That’s easy for everyone to say[from the outside]but I know she’s having a much more difficult time with all of this and it’s to the point where it’s really difficult for her,” he told the Daily Mail at the time.
Chmerkovskiy speculated that Feldman’s dancing problems were probably due to his lack of dancing ability and work ethic.
He noted that the “Stand by Me” actors struggled with the choreography and the entire experience was outside of their comfort zone.
“Remember, this production is not just about you and your partner dancing, it’s about all the huge, huge stuff that’s going on. The amount of people you have to deal with, the amount of interviews, and this is all between rehearsal time and therapy and you’re trying to lick your wounds and all that,” he shared.
Feldman later admitted that Johnson, 31, “deserved better” from his partner after he was sent home in a double-elimination match alongside Baron Davis and Britt Stewart on “Night of the One-Hit Wonder.”
“Personally, I think it’s really bad because she deserved better,” he said, adding, “Jenna was great. I really enjoyed her.”
“She was last year’s queen, so in my book she deserves to be champion every year because she’s really great.”
Later that month, Feldman addressed Chmerkovskiy’s comments about his work ethic on social media in response to a comment on Johnson’s Instagram.
“I am so sorry that the media is using negative language to falsely portray that the time we spent together was never enjoyable,” he wrote.
“And you know as well as I do, I’ve been there seven days a week for the past three weeks, doing everything I can to give you the best, even if the judge couldn’t see it,” he continued. “God bless your family. Keep dancing your dreams. ❤️🙌”
