COL Group International’s Zhuhai-Macau production studio has officially begun full-scale operations, marking a significant expansion of the company’s production infrastructure, with TVB’s “City of Splendour” and Mango TV’s “He Will Return Before Dawn” being produced as its first active projects.
Opened in late 2025, the facility currently measures 220,000 square meters, of which 170,000 square meters are dedicated to production space across 94 indoor and outdoor sets. The infrastructure is designed to support both traditional long-form television drama and high-volume microdrama content, a format that is rapidly growing across Asian markets.
TVB’s business drama “City of Splendor” returned to the studio on January 20th and completed the main interior sequences. The series, which centers on power struggles within a luxury hotel empire and stars Julian Cheung, Long Ng, Samantha Ko, Kelly Cheung and David Cheung, is scheduled to be a highlight of TVB’s 2026 programming schedule.
Mango TV’s “He Will Return Before Dawn” entered the facility on January 17th, completing an intensive schedule of modern workplace scenes. The micro-drama, based on a web novel, stars Bevan Bi and Zhang Miaoyi, and is supported by Ke Chun, Luo Yizhou, ying Xiaotian, Geng Le, and Ni Jingyang.
The studio will also support original content from FlareFlow, COL’s global microdrama platform, as part of the group’s integrated content ecosystem across production, IP development, platform operations and distribution.
“We’re not just in the business of platform and distribution,” said Timothy Oh, general manager of COL Group International. “We help our partners scale effectively and efficiently, from IP and production capabilities to content libraries and even marketing support. Our goal is to meet partners at every level of the content value chain.”
The facility is designed to enable parallel filming and rapid set rotation, features designed to support the production demands of microdrama formats while maintaining premium scripted television standards. COL aims to partner with broadcasters, streaming platforms and content creators in Greater China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
