Claire Danes said she cried when she learned she was pregnant with her third child at the age of 44.
Now 46, she recalled calling her gynecologist “in convulsive tears” when she learned the big news.
“It was pure, like a meltdown,” she told Amy Poehler on Tuesday’s episode of the “Good Hang with Amy Poehler” podcast.
“None of this was intentional,” she continued. “I didn’t know it was physically possible. I was 44 years old.”
The “Homeland” alum gave birth to a baby girl in 2023.
Danes pointed out that there is a five-year age difference between her and husband Hugh Dancy’s children – sons Silas, 13, Rowan, 7, and daughter, now 2.
“Rowan was a very difficult baby to have. We had to undergo IVF twice,” she said.
Back in November 2025, Danes spoke about her unexpected third pregnancy on the podcast SmartLess. She admitted she was “scared.”
“I was very old when it happened,” she said, but added that everything turned out okay.
Still, she said she felt “embarrassed.”
“It seems like I was playing a prank. I went beyond the intended point and got caught fornicating,” she explained. “It was weird and I felt like I found an edge that I wasn’t aware of at all.”
“I was a little outside the parameters,” she continued. “That was wild.”
Danes and Dancy, 50, married in September 2009.
She previously dated Billy Crudup and the pair remain friends more than 20 years after the infamous cheating scandal involving then-pregnant Mary-Louise Parker in 2003.
Danes and Crudup (who is now married to Naomi Watts) were spotted smiling and sharing a hug at the NYU Tisch School of the Arts Gala in April 2025.
