Christine Cavalari admitted her father, Dennis Cavalari, as “scary” and “scary” in her childhood.
The “Laguna Beach” alumni reminded her dad how she did the same while talking about how to encourage her children to be open and honest with her. But she never felt she could.
“I wasn’t really honest with him. I was afraid of my dad and I went through the fact that I was not in trouble because I was honest,” she said on an episode of the “Let’s Be Honest” podcast on Tuesday.
“I was always like that, and I was very scared of my father. I mean, God, I didn’t want to be around him. If I was completely honest, he would always make me uncomfortable,” the former reality TV star explained that she was always walking around Dennis on eggshells.
Unlike her father, Christine said she never felt that she had “trust” with her mother, Judith Spy Eifrig, and was even more “comfortable.”
“I probably tried it with my mother, but I was so scared of my dad that I never really had the opportunity with him,” she said.
“And my dad always felt like he was always judging me. Mmm, like that whole energy,” explained the former reality star.
“I tell my kids, honesty is the most important thing to me,” she said.
Christine’s comments come amidst years of alienation from Dennis.
In June, the Hills alumni called his father’s connection “the best decision” he called his father.
“That weight was lifted from me,” she told people at the time. “There’s no day I’ll miss him. I don’t know if it was a couple of years ago, but I say I was an adult. Let’s say I was 35.
That same month, Christine told Page 6 exclusively that she would never allow Dennis to cross the line with her children.
She did not reveal that her father had done to her grandchildren, but Christine later revealed that he “harmed” them, saying, “There was zero accountability, no apology.”
