Chrissy Teigen doesn’t understand why her friend Meghan Markle receives so much hate.
“I adore her. I really respect her. I think she’s incredibly strong,” Teigen, 39, told People of Markle over the weekend. “It’s insane to me how polarizing she is to so many people.”
According to the model, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, is a “very kind and good person” who “wants the best” for “all her friends”, “the people around her”, “her own relationships” and “her children”.
Teigen claimed that Markle lives a “simple” life, adding, “People are going to come up with all sorts of things, what she’s thinking about, what she wants…[but]it’s not that complicated.”
The cookbook author continued, “People always read too much into what they want to read into and focus too much on what they want to believe. … People just come up with their own stories.”
Teigen, whose reputation never fully recovered after past cyberbullying posts resurfaced in 2021, praised the rebel royal family for the way they brushed off any negativity.
John Legend’s wife said, “I think it’s cool that[Markle]is like, ‘Listen, you can say whatever you want. I’m happy, I’m healthy, I feel good.'”
Teigen and Legend have daughters Luna, 9, and Estie, 2, and sons Miles, 7, and Wren, 2, while Markle and her husband Prince Harry have Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4.
When asked if her family would get together for a playdate, Teigen jokingly replied, “I don’t leave the house.”
“I’m not kidding,” she insisted with a laugh. “I don’t go anywhere. I try to do all my photo shoots, everything at home. So, no. But when the time comes, absolutely.”
As for Markle, she and Prince Harry quit royal duties and moved from the UK to the US in 2020 after intense public scrutiny. But the move only gave critics more ammunition.
The former actress now stars in her own lifestyle series, which Teigen also recently guest-starred on. Many viewers were furious, saying there were “serious problems” with the cameo.
“How can Meghan Markle hang out with Chrissy Teigan (sic), a self-confessed cyber bully and troll, when she claims to support Parents Network, which is campaigning against this very thing?” one critic previously wondered.
