Chris Fleming makes his HBO comedy special debut.
His next stand-up hour, “Chris Fleming: Live at the Palace,” will premiere on cable TV and HBO Max on February 27 at 10 p.m.
The special, recorded at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theater, finds Fleming bouncing around everyday topics, from Trader Joe’s to Oreos to NPR to dog breeds. Plus, he shares passionate views on masculinity, conga lines, and more in an hour-long stand-up that includes dancing and singing.
Fleming said in a statement: “I hereby announce that my first HBO special will be available to you soon. Enjoy and dance with me. Thank you and thank you HBO!!”
“Chris Fleming gives this special his all. Once you see him, there’s no comparison,” added Nina Rosenstein, HBO’s executive vice president of late-night programming and specials. “His jokes are so precise and his physical comedy bordering on the acrobatic that you discover new laughs every time. Whether it’s a perfect crab-walking impression or a complicated joke about Tillamook cheese, his work is a masterclass in itself.”
“Live at the Palace” is written and performed by Fleming, who also serves as executive producer along with Alex Buck, Daniel Powell, Molly Mandel, Olivia Dowd, Conan O’Brien and Jeff Ross. Directed by Bill Benz.
Fleming is an alumnus who was named to Variety’s list of “10 Comics to Watch” and has appeared in series such as “Abbott Elementary,” “The Root,” and “Corporate.” He released a one-hour YouTube special called “Showpig” in 2018, followed by a Peacock special called “Hell” in 2023.
