Cheryl Hines lashed out at Olivia Nuzzi while denying her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s alleged sexting scandal with a journalist.
The “Curb Your Enthusiasm” alum talked about standing by her partner on the “Katie Miller Podcast.” The clip was obtained by Politico Playbook.
“I think you always have to consider the source, right?” the 60-year-old actress quipped. “So we’ll start there. And we’ll end with a conversation with Bobby.”
Hines, who has been married to RFK Jr. since 2014, said the couple had been dealing with “a year and a half of headlines, rumors, articles and confusion” when Nuzzi’s allegations broke.
A New York Magazine reporter, 32, claimed in September 2024 that the “nature” of his communications with a politician, 71, had become “personal.”
The Post later reported that the two had been sexting.
At the time, a spokesperson for the health secretary denied this, writing, “Mr. Kennedy met only once in his life for an interview requested by Olivia Nuzzi, and it turned out to be a hit.”
Hines said in this week’s Sneak Peek that she believes Nuzzi’s claims are “further confusion and rumors.”
However, she admitted, “It was tough.”
The comedian went on to question Nuzi’s motives, saying, “I don’t know this person. I don’t know what their intentions are. I can speculate, but I won’t. But if you want to, you can.”
This candid conversation marks the first time Mr. Hines has spoken publicly about Nuzi.
Speaking to the Wall Street Journal in August, the Emmy nominee sidestepped the topic rather than directly discussing the drama.
“I don’t think there’s any point in going through all the rumors and headlines and trying to defend or explain them,” she told the outlet.
“Bobby and I talk about everything, so that’s how everything goes,” Hines continued. “And we’re really good friends and we trust each other.”
She joked, “We love each other, we’re still married, and some would guess that everything we went through is in the past.”
Hynes went on to explain that “reacting” to speculation “drags[her]into a lower vibration. The trick is to try to maintain a higher vibration.”
