Charlie Sheen believes that after decades of drinking and drug use, her daughter Sami Sheen praises him for drinking.
By 9am on December 10th, 2017, the “two and a half men” alum had already beaten three whiskey lace coffees, and he had forgotten to pick up the Sami for a reservation.
Charlie, 60, realizes that he’s not so subdued enough to drive, so he asks his mates to go behind the wheels.
“Sam was very quiet,” the actor now writes in his book. “I didn’t have to be see-through to know exactly what she was thinking.”
“Why isn’t your dad driving? Again?” he imagines Sami’s thoughts. “Why aren’t the only two people in the car not like they used to be? When will the moment come back? When will Dad come back? I miss him.”
Charlie admits that “there was only one thing that made me feel worse than betray myself, and that was failing my kids.”
“I knew exactly what I had to do,” he continues. “Sam wasn’t my last straw. She was my first harvest.”
The next day, the actor “takes two bariums and drinks three beers,” in his memoir, claiming he has been sober ever since.
Charlie shares Sami, 21, and another 20-year-old daughter, Laura, with her ex-wife, Dennis Richards.
But their relationship is rocky.
Earlier this year, Sami, the only fan creator, shared a video of Tiktok explaining why she wasn’t in contact with her father.
Sami lip-synced to an audio clip from Charlie’s infamous 2011 interview on ABC’s “20/20” and joked about taking drugs to her home.
When asked by journalist Andrea Canning if there was drugs in his home, Charlie said at the time, “No, I don’t. I don’t know.
He added with a chuckle, “Oh, the drugs in the house, oh, we’re all going to die.”
Through the video, Sami wrote, “When I wonder why I haven’t spoken to my father in a year, this is my father.”
Sami also spoke candidly about her alienation from her father in an episode of “Dennis Richards and Her Wild Things,” which aired in April.
“I literally want to do anything besides going for lunch with my dad,” she said in her confession.
“It’s going to be a very big chunk with him,” she continued their relationship. “I think it was pretty bad for the first 13 years of my life, and we were fine for a few years.
Richards previously acknowledged that Sami and Laura’s relationship with their father has always been complicated “from day one.”
“Things can go up and down, but you can get through it anytime,” she told us every week in March.
