Charlie Sheen felt betrayed after his famous father, Martin Sheen, signed a warrant for his son after an overdose of drugs.
The “two and a half men” alum detailed how his officials turned him after violating probation in an interview with Michael Strahan on “Good Morning America” on Monday.
“It felt like the biggest betrayal you could possibly endure,” recalls 60-year-old Charlie.
Over time he eventually realizes that his father was just trying to get the help he needed.
“(I) ultimately considered it love. But at this point, my bodyguard came to the bedroom door and said, “I know the US ex is approaching. We’re leaving for five,” he says. ” he said.
Charlie’s life was embarrassing when his father intervened. Charlie was on probation for allegedly abused her then-girlfriend Brittany Ashland, but in 1998 she overdose of cocaine injected before suffering from a stroke.
Instead of locking Charlie behind the bar, Malibu City Court ruled “erroneous on the part of rehabilitation” and extended probation for a year.
Despite his downfall, the star of “Apocalypse Now,” 85, stood by his son throughout all the tough times. I also read the actor’s new memoir, “The Book of Sheen,” which will be released on Tuesday.
“Dad seemed to be in the middle of (my book),” Charlie said in “GMA.” “He said, ‘Using humor in your darkest moments is a gift for readers.”
Charlie also shared that he believes his addiction problems stemmed from having studs as a child.
“I just drank it… I softened the edges,” Charlie said. “It gave me freedom of speech.”
The “Bookie” actor now wants to compensate with those who have not forgiven him.
“If I can get in touch with them, or if our paths are intended to cross, if there’s still something available for them, there’s still a few people there,” he said.
Charlie wants to gain recognition as a respected writer and writer in his books, but he also wants to finally close the chapters of this dark age of his life.
“This story should have ended 100 times 20 years ago, and it wasn’t,” he said. “So whatever happens next might be a place where some of the real gold is hidden.”
Charlie gets emotional with Netflix’s docusary, “aka Charlie Sheen,” as he reflects on the impact his drug addiction had on his father.
“I can’t imagine being a father,” he said in the teaser. “It really hurts the person you love.”
