Charlie Kaufmann’s Venice premier short film “How To Shoot a Ghost” revealed its first trailer.
On September 1, Jesse Buckley and Joseph Aquiki, a 27-minute film that is not competing in Venice, follows two newly dead young people they meet on the streets of Athens, Greece. “One was a translator, the other was a photographer, and they were outsiders of life. In death, they suffer from the rest of their longing and mistakes,” reads the official summary. “They wandered the city together, finding the difficult beauty of existence and the comfort of its aftermath.”
Director and screenwriter Kaufman won an Oscar in 2004 for “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” but last won the big juj award at Lido 10 years ago.
“I’m so happy to be able to go to Venice with “How to Shoot Ghosts,”” Kaufmann said in a statement to Variety. “It’s a lovely festival that holds a very special place in my heart.” As John Malkovic, who premiered there in 1999, Venice worked hard to begin my scripting career. And of course, in 2015 we had a great time at Anomalisa. ”
Buckley was nominated for an Oscar for Maggie Gyllenhaal’s 2021 psychological drama The Lost Daughter, and will be seen in Chloe Chao’s “Hamnet” and Gyllenhaal’s “The Bride!” As Frankenstein’s bride. Lebanese actor Akiki recently appeared in the short Dwan Kauki award-winning short “Canary in the Mine” and Summer El Belwaki’s special “Al Heiba.”
“How to Shoot a Ghost” was written by the poet and the author, Eva HD executive producer. Halsey, Avanjogia, Anthony Lee, Aphroditi Panagio Tako, Andrew Ospianko, Elipapadiamanti, Phililoupoulos, Fibosdosos, Franklin P. Hartley, Nathan Mardis, Nicholas Raviola, and Simos Manganis. Emily McCann Lesser and Isabel served as producers, Zora Elgart Glassman and Jared Ian Goldman served as co-producer, while Daniel Lugo served as co-producer.
