Charlie Brooker takes a break from his “Black Mirror” duties on Netflix and is embarking on a four-part detective series that is a little different to the streamer.
In production, “The Untitled Charlie Brooker Project” (and naturally, the working title) has been described in Logline as “a surprising, original crime thriller. As it points out, the show “frows and brows.”
The show will be led by Paddy Concidin (“House of the Dragon”, “Mobrand”), Georgina Campbell (“Barbarian”, “Watcher”), and Lena Heady (“Game of Thrones”, “Dropping”). Fans of “Black Mirror” will find Campbell, alumni and appearing in the much-loved episode of “Hang the DJ.”
“I’m excited to say these words for a press release. I’ve dreamed of offering quotes since I was a young fetal child. “I’m pinching myself, but like all of us, if I do, I fear that I might wake up and discover that 2025 is all magical dreams. Watch my show. I’m begging you.”
Brooker created the series and wrote it alongside Ben Cordell, Jason Hazelly, Emmer Kenney, Daniel Maier and Joel Morris. Victoria Asare Archer provided additional material. It will be directed by longtime Brooker collaborator Al Campbell (ScreenWipe, Newswipe, Death to 2020).
Richard Webb produces executive producers for Brooker, Jessica Rhodes and Annabelle Jones. Produced by Mark Kinsella Co-Exec.
The still-titled series isn’t Brooker’s first foray into the world of crime dramas. He co-created Sky’s police procedural satire, “The Touch of Cloth,” starring John Hanna and Sun Jones, who ran for three seasons from 2012 to 2014.
