Daniel isn’t much of a social media user, and Charlie focuses most of his posts on promoting his projects. But their public history still remains, especially when they got engaged in 2023 and married in 2025.

September 2019
Back in 2019, Charlie was photographed with Daniel’s band The 1975 in London. Members Matthew Healy and Ross McDonald appeared alongside Charlie and Daniel.
In 1975, they won the GQ Band of the Year award at the GQ Men of the Year Awards.
March 2021
They first worked together in 2021 on the collaborative single “Spinning” with No Rome.
March 2022
They worked together again on Charlie’s Clash album. In March 2022, a photo of the two holding hands in New York City sparked speculation that they were dating. They also worked on the song “Hot Girl (Bodies, Bodies)” for the soundtrack of the horror film “Bodies, Bodies”. That same month, Daniel posted a photo of Charlie covered in fake blood on his Instagram to promote Charlie’s music.
May 2022
Charlie went official on Instagram a few months later in a now-deleted post, sharing a photo from her vacation and captioning it, “~Yummy~One week~Vacation~🧚.”
October 2022
The couple enjoyed Paris Fashion Week, and she shared a photo on Instagram, writing, “And I’m in the front row (bonjour).”
January 2023
In January 2023, Charlie shouted at her boyfriend on X (formerly Twitter).
“My boyfriend is really hot and an amazing producer!” she wrote. “Who said men can’t multitask???”
May 2023
In May 2023, Charlie told The Sun: “Right now I’m dating another musician and he’s a big influence on me with his process and the way he and his band work. It’s completely different to the way I work and that’s definitely influenced me and my process.”
In the same month, they attended the BAFTA Television Awards post-ceremony Vogue and Netflix party in London.
November 2023
In another now-deleted Instagram post, Charli appeared to announce her engagement, sharing a photo of her ring and writing, “Charli XCX and George Daniel fuck for life!!!”
December 2023
When Charlie appeared on the Spout Podcast in late 2023, he spoke more about his work with Danielle.
“We’ve done some things together. We’re working on some ideas,” she said. “It’s funny because I’ve never had a relationship with anyone I’ve worked with before, so it’s kind of a whole new dynamic, but it’s cool… There’s probably some songs that he worked on with me.”
She also shared what it was like watching Daniel and his bandmate Matty Healy collaborate in the studio, stating that they have a “completely different” process than hers.
“Making records takes a lot of time, and I’ve generally been very fast so far,” she said. “That used to be part of my process. It was spontaneous and instinctive…Being around them, I definitely adapted to the idea of sitting with a song, reworking something, playing it to friends, going back and forth, and living with the song a little bit more. That’s one of the ways my process has matured.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone UK, Charlie spoke at length about their relationship.
“We want to impress each other and we think we’re both really good, but the truth is, I’m a real bitch in the studio with George,” Charlie said. “Obviously we’re so close that we lose everything in terms of normal studio boundaries.”
She added, “We have a really good flow, and he leaves a lot of space for people to breathe and be themselves and go through their own processes.”
June 2024
While promoting a song about Daniel titled “Talk Talk,” Charli shared a story on TikTok about one night in 2020 when she felt like Daniel was watching her. The pair were both at the NME Awards, and although they weren’t officially dating, they were “really into each other”.
“We were at the NME Awards and we were both sitting at separate tables and we were kind of texting each other, but we weren’t spending any time together,” the Clash artist recalled. “But we were both looking at each other. One of us would look, the other would look away, and vice versa.”
“When you feel someone is watching you, it can feel like there’s a hole in the back of your head,” she continued. “It was just that moment.”
In the song, she sings about a secret romance brewing into something special, saying in the lyrics: “I’ve been staring at you/I’ve drilled a hole in your head/We’ve been talking for months/But we’ve never been in the same room/And now I want to be closer to you/But we’ve been keeping this a secret/And you’re surrounded by friends/And I’m just wondering what they know.”
She continues, “I followed you to the bathroom/But then I felt like I was crazy.”
Charlie said that’s what he actually did at the awards ceremony.
“I actually did that,” Charlie explained with a laugh on TikTok. “I saw him go to the bathroom and I thought, oh, I’m going to go to the bathroom too, maybe we’ll run into each other then we won’t be texting all the time.”
“But then I got halfway through and I thought, this is insane,” she added. “Then I went and sat down again.”
September 2024
Charlie, who repeatedly yelled at his fiancée during shows on the New York City Sweat Tour, was photographed kissing him on a city street on September 24th. The couple hugged while enjoying a walk the day after their concert at Madison Square Garden.
January 2025
In late January, rumors surfaced that Charlie and Daniel had secretly married. The couple did not mention them. However, Charlie released a new photo of himself with Daniel on January 1st.
February 2025
A source speaking to The Sun claimed the couple were planning a wedding in Italy.
“Charlie and George both love Italy and it holds a special place in their hearts, so they decided they wanted to get married there,” the source claimed. “They found a venue that they thought would be perfect for their unique, non-traditional style of wedding.”
They added: “The main goal is to get all our loved ones together, but it’s clear that there are many people who are eager to be invited.”
Potential guests include Daniels’ bandmates Matti Healy, Troye Sivan and Robin.
June 2025
In June, there were rumors that the relationship had deteriorated after Daniel referred to Charlie as his “wife” in an Instagram post. The 1975 drummer shared a photo of Brat’s bright green album cover and wrote, “What a campaign, what an album, what a life, what a wife.”
July 2025
On July 19th, it was reported that the two got married. A video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) that appears to show Danielle and Charlie posing with their family in their wedding attire. The singer was seen wearing a white off-shoulder gown with ruched fabric wrapped around her waist. She wore her hair down, carried a bouquet of white flowers, and had a white ribbon pinned to her hair.
Shortly after the news broke, Charli began sharing clips from that night on TikTok, including one showing off her Vivienne Westwood dress on TikTok while wearing black sunglasses.
She then shared a montage of clips of her husband and friends partying in a hotel room after the wedding. The singer changed into another white babydoll dress with belled sleeves by Nova Cola, modeled after windowpane curtains. There was also a brief shot of Daniel in silk pajamas, Charlie’s wedding veil pulled over his head, and smoking a cigarette.
She captioned the clip, “Bridal party energy!”
The Sun reported that attendees headed to Italian restaurant Dara for a reception before heading to Ellie’s Bar in Dalston.
A source said, “Charlie’s wedding reception was typical of Brat.” “She and George wanted to keep cool so they avoided the cars and walked down Hackney High Street to Dara. The restaurant was closed and they were having a sumptuous family meal with plenty of pasta and champagne. Passersby were stunned to see Charlie and George outside having a cheeky pre-dinner cigarette.”
The following week, Charlie shared a photo from the ceremony and reception on a merry-go-round, writing in the caption, “I did less than three things.”
October 2025
Charlie reflected on her wedding and her marriage to Danielle in a cover story for Vanity Fair. “It’s great to be married,” said the singer. “To be honest, I had never actually seen it with my own eyes.”
She added, “We felt so in love and it was cool to do it our way. We both just didn’t want to feel the pressure that you’re supposed to feel when you get married.” Regarding the wedding day in general, Charlie said, “I didn’t want it to feel like “Today is the day of my life as a woman.”” In fact, it feels like it’s still going to be a cool day today. ”
Singer Brat also talked about what he values most about his relationship with Danielle. “He really understands me at my best and at my worst,” she said. “When he’s deep into making a 1975 record and needs perspective, we can talk about it and vice versa. I feel very calmed by that. Sometimes you have to really wrestle with fear and anticipation, but that’s it.”
