Looks like Celine Dion has a plan to steal Christmas.
The iconic singer posted a video of himself on Instagram Wednesday wearing a Grinch costume and sitting by a fireplace. She has detailed bright green make-up. She talks the chorus of “All By Myself” at the beginning of the video, then launches into a parody of the Grinch’s monologue about schedules from the 2000 film How the Grinch Stole Christmas, starring Jim Carrey.
“They’re nervous to invite me there on such short notice. Even if I wanted to go, my schedule wouldn’t allow it!” she said, cradling a small dog with horns like Max, the Grinch’s dog, in her lap. “4:00 — Practice my voice. 4:30 — Wake up the kids. 5:00 — Solve world hunger. Don’t tell anyone. 5:30 — Enjoy some jazz. 6:30 — Dinner with me. Can’t cancel anymore! 7:00 — Struggle with creative ideas.”
“I have a reservation!” Dion continues. “Of course, even if you turn up your creative ideas at 9 o’clock, you still have time to lie in bed and endlessly scroll through TikTok videos. Or you could simply wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year…I’m bored!” She starts singing “All by Myself” again and closes the video. “When I was young, I didn’t need anyone.”
“All By Myself” was originally released by singer-songwriter Eric Carmen in 1975 and peaked at number two on the Billboard Hot 100. Dion released a famous cover of the ballad as a single ahead of his 1996 album Falling Into You. The song remains one of the biggest hits in the United States to this day.
