Colleagues from rival networks and TV news professionals gathered at media hangout Michael’s to celebrate Deborah Roberts’ new book, Sisters: Loved and Treasured.
Robin Roberts, Gayle King, Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb were among those who came out to support the book, which features 50 personal stories from notable women such as Viola Davis, Jenna Bush Hager and Barbara Bush.
“It was a fun sisterhood on morning TV,” a source told Page Six.
The event began with opening remarks from Disney News Group boss Debra O’Connell.
Robin introduced the woman of the moment, and Deborah talked about the “GMA” anchor’s role in the book. According to partygoers, she joked that Robyn suddenly showed up when she was interviewing her two sisters, Dorothy Roberts McEwen and Sally Ann Roberts, for a book.
“She wasn’t supposed to be there. She[appeared]just to keep an eye on how much tea the family shared,” a source told Page Six.
Meanwhile, Robin shared a message from former ABC World News Tonight anchor David Muir. (Muir eventually finishes anchoring and arrives at the party, surprising Deborah before the banquet is over.)
Deborah’s four sisters, her husband Al Roker, Arianna Huffington, Bebe Smith, Tonya Lewis Lee, and ABC colleagues Stephanie Ramos and Will Reeve also attended the celebration.
“The journey of the Sisterhood is unfolding in real time… Thank you to everyone who picked up this book. I am forever grateful and hope that it sheds light on the complex and life-affirming world of my sisters and their friends,” Deborah captioned a photo with her siblings.
