CBS is planning a daytime crossover event this summer between the long-running show “The Young and the Restless” and newcomer “Beyond the Gates.” The Eye network announced Tuesday that six characters from “Young and the Restless” will appear in June’s multi-episode event “Beyond the Gates.”
Starring “Beyond the Gates” from “Y&R” are Eric Braeden, Michael Mellor, Peter Bergman, Susan Walters, Melissa Ordway and Bryton James.
The logline for the episode is as follows: “Vernon Dupree (Clifton Davis), a close longtime friend, and the legendary Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), the powerful patriarch of the Newman family. arrives at Fairmont Crest in grand style and reunites at a high-profile political fundraiser. Over the years, Victor has supported Vernon’s political campaigns, while Vernon has championed legislation that would benefit Newman Enterprises, an alliance forged with loyalty and influence. Now, Vernon has asked Victor to be the keynote speaker at his grandson Martin’s (Brandon Claybon) fundraiser.
“Friends Kyle (Michael Mellor) and Martin, who first bonded in New York City after college, are also in attendance. Martin also extended an invitation to Kyle, who arrived with his parents, Jack (Peter Bergman) and Diane (Susan Walters). Abby (Melissa Ordway) and Devon (Bryton James) are also on the VIP guest list, with Devon landing an unexpected business opportunity from Anita Dupree.” (Tamara Tunie) As the night progresses, shocking events occur and the fundraiser suddenly derails, with dramatic consequences affecting everyone in attendance. ”
What makes this crossover unique is that the two soaps are produced by different companies. “Beyond the Gates,” released in February 2025, is from CBS Studios/NAACP Venture with P&G Studios as a partner, and “The Young and the Restless,” released in March 1973, is from Sony Pictures TV and Bell Dramatic Serial Company.
Beyond the Gates, which airs weekdays at 2pm ET/1pm PT, is created by head writer Michel Val Jean and executive producers include Val Jean, Sheila Duckworth, Julie Carruthers, Tracy Thomson, Leon W. Russell, Derrick Johnson, Anna Saalfeld and Lela Coffey.
The Young and the Restless airs weekdays at 12:30pm ET/11:30am PT and is produced by executive producer and head writer Josh Griffiths and co-executive producer Sally McDonald.
