According to audio of a 911 call obtained by Page Six, Catherine O’Hara was experiencing “difficulty breathing” in her final hours.
The late actress suffered a medical emergency at her home in Brentwood, Calif., on Friday, and paramedics were called to the scene around 5 a.m.
Page Six reported that the “Schitt’s Creek” alum was taken to the hospital in “critical” condition and died 71 hours later.
Creative Artists Agency acknowledged the tragedy in a statement, noting that the “Home Alone” star passed away after a “short illness.”
O’Hara’s cause of death is unknown at this time.
She is survived by her husband, production designer Bo Welch, and two adult sons, Matthew and Luke.
Days before O’Hara’s shocking death, she was scheduled to film Season 2 of The Studio, directed by Seth Rogen, in which she played Patti Lee.
However, as the Emmy winner dealt with “personal issues,” the schedule was “reworked to focus on scenes that did not feature her character,” The Sun reported.
“It was little known that she had health issues and serious issues,” a source told the show on Friday.
Rogen, 43, and other cast members have yet to speak out about O’Hara’s death, but tributes from past co-stars have flooded social media.
Macaulay Culkin, who played O’Hara’s son in Home Alone, told his Instagram followers that he wished he had “more… time” with his girlfriend.
“I wanted to sit in the chair next to you,” the 45-year-old actor wrote. “I heard you. But there was so much more I wanted to say. I love you. See you again.”
Plus, “Beetlejuice” star Michael Keaton gushed about “pretending to be my wife…pretending to be my nemesis…true friend in real life” in an emotional upload.
He wrote, “This hurts. I’m going to miss her. Also thinking about Beau.”
O’Hara and Welch met on a movie set in 1987, and director Tim Burton encouraged them to start dating.
The pair married in 1992 and were all smiles when they last appeared in public at Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party in September 2025.
