Catherine O’Hara’s brother has opened up about the ‘Schitt’s Creek’ star’s final moments.
Michael P. O’Hara revealed on Sunday’s episode of his podcast “Dreams of Our Loved Ones” that he “ended up not really talking to his sister” before she died at age 71 in January.
Michael explained that Katherine, who lives in Los Angeles, “didn’t live nearby” and “didn’t really want to talk on the phone.” That’s what made the “Home Alone” star’s recent dream appearance all the more special.
Michael explained to listeners that the vivid moment came “days or days before” Katherine died.
“I always cherish the time I get to see my loved one in a dream-like state. And I was holding her, and it was really beautiful. And I think it was a kind of farewell,” he said.
“Since then, I had a wonderful dream of visiting her. She was living in a new house and was renovating it, so she was very busy picking out furniture and sofas. And she said, ‘Michael, you can come and sleep here any time you want.’
Michael went on to say that the dream was reminiscent of real-life memories of Katherine when she was part of the sketch comedy ensemble Second City Television.

“I did an apprenticeship at the Windsor Arms Hotel,” he said. “She had an extra bedroom, so I went to stay at her house a few nights. Yeah, it’s pretty cool. But yeah, it was beautiful. She was very happy and very busy in this other world that she’s in, but yeah, it’s beautiful.”
Michael added: “Love will last no matter what. They will always be with us.”
As Page Six previously reported, Duchess Kate passed away from a pulmonary embolism on January 30, sending shock waves across Hollywood.
Before her death, the beloved icon starred as failed film producer Patti Lee in season one of The Studio.
Katherine was scheduled to return for season 2, but was forced to miss the start of filming just days before her death. The show’s co-creator and star Seth Rogen revealed last week how “The Studio” will address her tragic death.
“If anything, we’re acknowledging the idea that we’re a little bit unanchored. But to be honest, it’s part of life and something we all go through,” he said in an interview with the Times.
“So we try not to touch on heavy themes too much on this show, but those themes will come into play in this second season. We’re not ignoring them.”
The comedian’s co-creator Evan Goldberg said Duchess Kate’s sudden death had “shocked” the entire cast.
“It’s been an incredible challenge, obviously, emotionally, dealing with the loss, but also in terms of the show itself,” he said of moving forward without the “Beetlejuice” actress.
“We wrote this song so that she was there. We had everything ready, and the shockwave permeated the entire new season,” he added. “It’s been tough… She was the anchor and now the anchor is gone.”
