HBO boss Casey Bloys recently told the London Times that HBO is already developing a second season of the long-awaited Harry Potter TV series.
“Our goal is to not leave a huge gap, especially as our kids are growing up,” Bloys said. “It’s not going to be an annual thing. The show is too big, too big. But…they’re currently writing season two.”
The HBO series stars Dominic McLaughlin as the main character, Harry Potter, and co-stars Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley and Arabella Staunton as Hermione Granger. The ensemble cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Papa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. , Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch, Luke Tallon as Quirinus Quirrell, Rox Pratt as Draco Malfoy, Bel Powley as Petunia and Vernon, and Daniel Rigby. Dursley and Katherine Parkinson as Molly Weasley.
The series is a faithful adaptation of JK Rowling’s seven novels, with each season set to follow one book. The recently released Season 1 trailer featured iconic moments from the first series, The Philosopher’s Stone, including Harry receiving his acceptance letter to Hogwarts, meeting Ron on the Hogwarts Express, and unwrapping a Quidditch broom. We also briefly introduced Dumbledore, Snape, Draco Malfoy, Mr. Ollivander, the Sorting Hat, and more.
HBO’s “Harry Potter” series was filmed at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the U.K. The series is led by showrunner Francesca Gardiner and “Succession” director Mark Mylod, who helmed multiple episodes. Executive producers include Rowling, Neil Blair, Ruth Kenley-Letts and David Heyman.
