This concludes the red carpet for Academy Museum Gala 2025.
On Wednesday, Cara Delevingne took to Instagram to share a “gala dan” from the big event held on Oct. 18 in Los Angeles, and got candid about what goes on behind the scenes to create a look that’s perfect for the cameras.
The 33-year-old British model arrived at the star-studded event wearing a sparkling Tamara Ralph Couture dress and posed for beautiful photos on the carpet.
Unfortunately, the gown tore right before Delevingne’s entrance. Luckily, stylist John Mambro had a sewing kit and was ready to save the day.
A L’Oréal spokesperson cheekily captioned the photo: “Scroll through to uncover the truth behind the glitz and glamour.”
The video shows the model walking barefoot on the sidewalk with a toe separator on, but Mambro literally sewed Delevingne into the dress, kneeling down to repair a large tear in the back of the dress.
While most commentators focused on her soft makeup and pouty lips, it was her cleavage and Mambro’s calm under pressure that made the bigger impact.
If you look closely, evidence of the stylist’s quick work can be seen in the evening photo. But that didn’t detract from the beauty of the floral-embellished dress, nor did it dampen Delevingne’s spirit.
Is it for those who want to learn the tricks behind the glitz and glamor?
Well, nothing.
It’s pure talent and preparation.
This means thanking everyone behind the scenes who made these picture perfect moments available to everyone to enjoy.
It’s nice to know that Delevingne is too.
