Cape Fear, an Apple TV+ drama series based on John D. McDonald’s 1957 novel, “The Executioner,” was cast in recurring roles with Ron Perlman, Ted Levine and Margarita Levieva.

The Executioner was adopted by J. Lee Thompson in 1962 and by Martin Scorsese in 1991 in a film called “The Cape Fear,” but the Apple version presents “an investigation of America’s obsession with true crime in the 21st century” according to official login. The series continues, “when happy married lawyers Anna (Amy Adams) and Tom Borden are Max Cady (Javier Bardem), the infamous murderer of the past, leave prison.”

Details regarding the roles of Perlman, Levine, and Levieva are not yet known. Along with them, in addition to Adams and Bardem, the cast also includes Patrick Wilson, CCH Pounder, Anna Barishnikov, Jamie Hector, Lily Collius, Joe Anders and Maria Piles.
