From Super Bowl Champion to…Mirror Ball Trophy Winner?
NFL star Rob Gronkowski plans to compete on “Dancing with the Stars” someday, and his longtime girlfriend Camille Kostek is here for it, too.
“I think that would be great for me, if he gets a little more rhythm and trains a little more,” the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model exclusively told Page Six at the Tight Ends & Friends Super Bowl Party in San Francisco, Calif., on Thursday night.
“I’m trying out with him, so it would be great to get a really professional, especially partner dance,” Kostek, 33, continued. “Wouldn’t it be more fun if we danced together and had him do the lifts when we went out? Oh! Somebody pair up with him!”
As we were finishing up our interview with Kostek, the timing couldn’t have been better: Olympic rugby player Ilona Maher, who competed on season 33 of DWTS with professional dancer Alan Bersten, also appeared on the Tight Ends & Friends red carpet.
Naturally, I had to ask her if she had any thoughts about Gronkowski doing the show, especially since she has the connections to put in a good word for Gronkowski.
“He should be a part of (it), he would be great at it!” raved Maher, 29. “I mean, I don’t know how much he moves his hips, but I think he’ll do well. I’ll give him some tips.”
Who would she have seen the NFL alumni pair up with?
“He would be great with Emma Slater,” the bronze medalist replied. “She’s such a great teacher. She’s so nice and so kind, so yes, 100 percent.”
The next day, Page Six met another “DWTS” alum, former NBA star Dwight Howard, at Michael Rubin’s star-studded Fanatics Super Bowl bash.
He also weighed in on the idea of Gronk competing in a dance competition series someday.
“I don’t know if he had the rhythm to do ‘Dancing with the Stars,'” joked Howard, who also competed on season 33 with pro dancer Daniela Karagach. “I know he’s very physical, but ‘Dancing with the Stars’ might be good for him. He was good at soccer, and I think he’ll be pretty good at dancing.”
“Unless they give him Daniela,” the 40-year-old athlete added, “because I love her, but it’s my life partner![No one else]can have Daniela.”
Following his spectacular appearance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with DWTS co-host Julianne Hough in December, fans have rallied around the 36-year-old to sign up for the show.
In case you missed it, Gronk and Huff were moving around to Tate McRae’s “Sports Car” during the special when the former New England Patriots star slipped and fell on live TV.
But like a pro, he posed and finished his routine, acting as if the accident had never happened.
“@gronk tried out for the stage and auditioned for @dancingwiththestars! 🤪 (he’s ok!),” Hough, 37, later joked on social media, sharing a clip of the moment.
Since then, Gronkowski has thrown his name into the ring for future contestants to join the dance competition show, something that has long been on his bucket list.
When he appeared on the Today show earlier this month, he revealed that he would like to do a show someday if his schedule allows.
“Is there anything I haven’t done yet? Well, ‘Dancing with the Stars’ was always on my mind, there’s no doubt about that,” the athlete said. “It’s really hard because we’re in football season, but I’ll always keep it in my back pocket. When I feel like it’s time…I’ll do it.”
Fans will have to wait a while for the new season of “DWTS,” but ABC made an exciting announcement on Tuesday that will bring in many of the show’s fan-favorite cast members.
