Brooks Nader has strong opinions about his least favorite holiday decorations.
The Love Thy Nader star, 28, speaks exclusively to PEOPLE about the festive theme she chose this year to decorate her new Los Angeles home while talking about her recent partnership with Samsung SmartThings.
Standing beside this year’s “traditional” Christmas setup, Nader says there are two Christmas decorations she will never put up in her home. And her answer may ruffle feathers.
“I can’t stand tinsel,” she tells people. “I don’t like that, I can’t do it.”

Another thing she says she “doesn’t hate, but really hates” are “themed” Christmas trees that are “frosty white” or “all silver.”
“I don’t want anyone to do that in front of me. That’s not the vibe,” she says.
Her style leans a bit more “Ralph Lauren-esque” and classic, and she jokes, “The only time I keep it classy is when I’m decorating for Christmas.”
PEOPLE previously shared a look inside Nader’s new LA home, which features a towering Christmas tree decorated in red, silver and gold. She also sprinkled dark red ribbons throughout the evergreens.
The model said she almost gave up on the bow-shaped accessory because it “reminded me of my childhood in the South,” adding: “My mom would literally tear out our hair and put giant bows on it.”

“I had a flashback and I was like, ‘Take the bow off,’ but now that I’m really looking at them, I kind of love them and it makes me feel a little nostalgic for my church days,” she explained.
As for how he’s spending his holidays this year, Nader said he’s happy to have his “whole crazy family” at his home in Los Angeles. That includes his sisters, Love Tie Nader co-stars Mary Holland, Grace Ann and Sarah Jane, and his parents Breaux and Holland Greene Nader.

She says her favorite traditions to do with her family during the Christmas season include “classic things,” from “matching Christmas pajamas” to “making Christmas cookies together.” She also remembers the kind way her father would make sure the whole family enjoyed each Christmas morning.
“My dad is so cute,” she says. “He makes us his famous little breakfast every Christmas morning because he loves making us breakfast. I wouldn’t want breakfast any other way.”
