As the search for 84-year-old Guthrie enters its 24th day, an emotional Savannah Guthrie says she and her family have accepted that her mother, Nancy Guthrie, may be dead.
“Hello. It’s been 24 days since our mother was taken from her bed in the dark of night. Every hour, minute, second, and night since then, I’ve been worrying about her, fearing her, feeling pain, and most of all, missing her,” the “Today” show host said in an Instagram video on Tuesday.
“We know that millions of you have been praying. We know that so many people of all faiths and no faith have been praying. We feel those prayers,” she added.
“Please continue to pray without ceasing. We still believe. We believe in miracles. We still believe that she will return. … We continue to breathe the embers of hope.”
Savannah, 54, then spoke about the possibility that her mother may no longer be alive.
“We also know that she may be missing. She may already be gone. She may already be home with her beloved Lord, dancing in heaven with her mother and father, her beloved brother Pierce, and our father,” Savannah said.
“And if this is real, we’re going to accept it, but we need to know where she is. We need her to come home,” she added.
The journalist then shared that she and her family are now offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to Nancy’s recovery.
“Please call the 1-800 tip line. You can remain anonymous. Someone knows something that could bring her home. Someone knows and we’re asking them to come forward now,” she said.
The video was also aired on Tuesday’s episode of the “Today” show, prompting graphic reactions from Savannah’s co-workers.
“Our beloved friend and colleague Savannah Guthrie posted a video on social media saying they still believe in miracles, and her family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the return of Nancy Guthrie,” said Craig Melvin.
Hoda Kotb, who is filling in for Savannah, added: “I think it’s painful to live in this uncertainty. It’s a plea for everyone because someone knows something.”
Nancy was last seen on January 31, when her daughter Annie and son-in-law Tommaso Cioni dropped her off at her home in Tucson after their daily dinner.
The next morning, authorities reported her missing after failing to attend church services.
While investigating Nancy’s disappearance, authorities found blood stains on the front porch.
Earlier this month, the FBI released horrifying home security camera photos showing an armed and masked figure outside Nancy’s door the night she disappeared.
Video and photos show a man wearing gloves standing at Nancy’s front door, fiddling with the door camera.
Several people were detained during the investigation, but were released after it was determined that they were not involved in Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators found gloves matching those worn by the suspect on the doorbell camera, but the DNA did not match records in the FBI database.
Nancy’s children and their spouses were all acquitted as suspects in her disappearance.
Nancy’s heartbreaking kidnapping reportedly means Savannah may never return to work on the “Today” show.
However, Page Six was told that it is undecided whether Savannah will return to the network as she is currently focused on her mother rather than work.
