Britney Spears fired her sobriety coach and security guard in the weeks leading up to her DUI arrest, Page Six confirmed Wednesday night.
TMZ reported Friday that the Princess of Pop made significant changes to her staff after returning from a trip to Mexico and after selling the rights to her music catalog for nine figures in February.
Spears’ representatives did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
The 44-year-old singer appeared to be under the influence of a cocktail of drugs and alcohol when he was taken into custody, the California Highway Patrol told Page Six on Thursday.
Additionally, a source close to the “Crossroads” star claimed that officers found an unknown substance inside Spears’ car when she was taken into custody.
The songwriter underwent a field sobriety test before being taken to the hospital to have his blood alcohol level determined.
Spears told people her BAC was 0.06 percent (according to TMZ), which is lower than California’s limit of 0.08 percent, but she could still be charged with erratic driving.
According to a 911 call, the Grammy winner was pulled over after “weaving in and out” of lanes.
Spears, who was “incredibly emotional” during her arrest, was released from the Ventura County Jail on Thursday morning.
Her court date is scheduled for May 4.
Spears’ manager, Cade Hudson, called the pop star’s actions “completely inexcusable” in a brutally honest statement to Page Six.
It continued: “Britney intends to take the right steps and abide by the law, and we hope this is the first step in the long overdue changes that are to occur in Britney’s life. We hope she gets the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
Spears allegedly told authorities before her arrest that she drank a mimosa “alone at home.”
A source said Thursday that the “Gimme More” crooner has been exhibiting “increasingly erratic behavior in recent months” and that she is on a “downhill” spiral in the wake of ex-husband Kevin Federline’s memoir, “You Thought You Knew.”
A source claimed, “What really drove her over the edge was Kevin’s book. … It had a big impact on her emotionally.”
Notably, the former couple were married from 2004 to 2007 and had two sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden James, 19, during their time together.
