Don’t force it on her.

Sam Asghari has expressed support for his ex-wife Britney Spears after she was arrested for drunk driving, saying “everyone makes mistakes” and comparing the “oppressed” singer to an Iranian woman.

“Coming from a country called Iran and seeing women being oppressed, that stuck with me and was a value that I lived by my whole life,” the 32-year-old actor said Wednesday on “Piers Morgan Uncensored.”

“It’s not a comparison at all, but in a way she was also experiencing something similar to what women in Iran go through, being oppressed by a lot of people who were taking advantage of her,” he continued.

Asghari said it was “hard for[him]to believe” that “someone in America” who “defends women’s rights and wants free speech and freedom for everyone” is “oppressed.”

The model went on to say how much she “admires” her ex-spouse.

“I’ve seen what she suffers from,” he told viewers. “Even though we’ve only been married for a year, we’ve been together for seven years, so my values for her and my respect for her will always remain the same.”

Asghari, who is a “strong believer” that performers should be given privacy to allow for a “great recovery,” said: “I really think that even if she makes a mistake, she is a strong woman and will be able to bounce back from it.”

When Piers Morgan asked if his exes were still talking, Asghari dodged the question.

The former couple started dating in 2016, got engaged in 2021, and married the following year.

By the summer of 2023, the two went their separate ways, and their divorce was finalized in May 2024.

Spears made headlines earlier this month after she was arrested after being pulled over by California Highway Patrol on suspicion of driving under the influence.

She was released from the Ventura County Jail a few hours later and has a court date scheduled for May.

Page Six has heard that the Princess of Pop is “devastated” and ready to “face the consequences” and “prays that she will be rehabilitated and not jailed.”

Asghari first addressed Spears’ arrest on Fox News last week, saying, “People make mistakes.”
