Britney Spears was reportedly drinking cocktails and enjoying some alone time in the hours before her DUI arrest, a source close to the singer exclusively tells Page Six.
“She was alone. She was home and just wanted to go for a drive,” a source said of Spears.
They claimed the pop star told police that he had “only had one mimosa in the afternoon.”
“That was a mistake. She didn’t think she was under the influence of anything,” the insider further explained.
Hours before he was taken into custody, the Grammy Award-winning artist posted a video of himself dancing at his Thousand Oaks home.
The source stressed that Spears “needs help” and has been working on herself since her conservatorship ended in November 2021.
“However, the events of the past year have made that journey much more difficult,” the source said.
The 44-year-old ‘Toxic’ singer is said to be hoping the judge will be ‘lenient towards him’ and that he will receive ‘proper treatment’ and ‘necessary help’ instead of being jailed.
It’s also reported that her family is very supportive of her, with her two sons, Sean Preston and Jayden James, showing up for her.
“Her family is rallying around her. Her sons don’t live with her, but they live nearby now,” the source said. “They moved to be closer to her because intimacy was beneficial to all of them and they wanted to be involved in her life.”
We hear the goal is for Spears to attend a treatment center and “begin her journey to recovery.”
Spears was arrested by the California Highway Patrol in Ventura County, California, on suspicion of driving under the influence, at approximately 9:28 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
She was arrested at 3:02 a.m. and released at 6:07 a.m. Thursday, according to Ventura County Sheriff’s inmate records.
Spears is scheduled to appear in court on May 4.
Audio of the 911 call, obtained exclusively by Page Six, shows a police officer describing Spears’ black MMW sedan convertible as “weaving in and out of lanes” and “exceeding speed.”
“Could you please drop all your forces into this area?” the officer said over the phone.
Page Six also obtained exclusive photos of Spears’ vehicle parked at the tow yard. The BMW was the same car Spears was driving when she was seen swerving off a road in October 2025 after going to a restaurant in Thousand Oaks, California.
The “Crossroads” actress’ manager, Cade Hudson, told Page Six in a statement Thursday: “This was a totally unacceptable and unfortunate incident. Britney intends to take the right steps and abide by the law, and we hope this is the first step in the long-awaited changes that are to occur in Britney’s life. We hope she gets the help and support she needs during this difficult time.”
Regarding her sons, he added, “Her sons will spend time with her. Her loved ones will come up with the necessary plans that are overdue to make her happy and successful.”
After her arrest, Spears was reportedly taken to a hospital where authorities drew blood to determine her blood alcohol level.
TMZ reported that Spears “said[her BAC]was 0.06.”
The legal limit in California is 0.08%, but if you are seen driving your car erratically, you could be charged with DUI.
