“Brilliant Minds” appears to be DOA, with NBC pulling the final six episodes of the medical drama from its schedule.
The show, and in fact nearly all of NBC’s primetime programming, will be on hiatus for the next two weeks as the network transitions to full coverage of the 2026 Winter Olympics. But now, NBC has announced that “The Voice: Battle of Champions” will air Mondays from 9pm to 11pm ET/PT, starting with its season premiere on February 23rd.
There is no set date for the return of “Brilliant Minds,” other than the fact that the final episode will air later in the season or sometime in the summer, according to people familiar with the decision.
The ratings for “Brilliant Minds” declined in season 2. According to Nielsen Live+7 data for the Season 2 premiere, the show had a 0.28 rating in adults 18-49 and 3.67 million viewers. In the episode that aired on January 12, the most recent episode for which Live+7 data is available, the show had a 0.19 rating and 2.6 million viewers. Let’s compare it to the final episode of season 1, which recorded an audience rating of 0.32 and 4.2 million viewers in January 2025.
Please note that the above does not include streaming viewership on Peacock. A final decision on the fate of “Brilliant Minds” is expected to be made closer to NBC’s Upfront in May.
NBC is currently vying to pilot five dramas for the 2026-2027 season, including a reboot of “The Rockford Files.”
Season 29 of “The Voice” is being dubbed “The Battle of Champions,” so named because the coaching panel is made up entirely of “Voice” winners. The series is produced by MGM Television, Warner Horizon Unscripted Television, and ITV Studios The Voice USA, Inc. The series is created by John De Mol, who serves as executive producer along with Mark Burnett, Audrey Morrissey, Amanda Zucker, Kyla Thompson, Adam H. Sher, and Barry Poznick.
