Brianna LaPaglia shares her honest opinion.
“No tea, no shade, no hate, just field research,” the 26-year-old influencer began in a TikTok video on Tuesday. “Every bitch I know is in Ozempik. They don’t need Ozempik. It’s like I did Ozempik. Will we lose some? Of course. Do we need Ozempik? No!”
LaPaglia issued an urgent warning to people who use the drug for no reason: “You’re going to die. You’re all going to die.”
Ozempic is a GLP-1 injection used to treat type 2 diabetes. However, it is widely prescribed for weight loss.
According to Baptist Health, using GLP-1 when it’s not needed can cause serious side effects, including gallbladder and kidney problems.
LaPaglia has previously opened up about her own struggle with an eating disorder.
“I had an anxiety-induced eating disorder and was always feeling nauseous,” she said on the Real Pod podcast in February. “Every time I ate something, I would throw up.”
“I used to avoid food at all costs because it made me feel sick or I couldn’t eat because my anxiety made me nauseous all the time,” the social media star added.
LaPaglia hit “rock bottom” in 2023 at his lowest weight to date.
“People were scared. Every time I went home, my family was like, ‘Oh my God,'” LaPaglia said. “It made me anemic and I had bruises all over my body. It was really, really hard to be in there for so long. Your body just got used to it, and when you finally got over that anxiety, or when you were able to look at yourself in the mirror and see how you looked,[it was]really unhealthy.”
Despite trying to develop a “healthy relationship” with food, LaPaglia couldn’t see the connection between her eating habits and her anxiety.
“Really, without even knowing it, I had developed an eating disorder and I didn’t know how to get over it or how to deal with it,” she said.
LaPaglia, who has gained 25 pounds, has reached what she considers a “healthy weight.”
“It didn’t happen overnight,” she continued. “Then I realized, ‘Oh my god, this is what’s happening to you.'” It took four or five months to get back to a healthy weight or a healthy mindset. ”
“It was a terrible process,” LaPaglia admitted. “Slowly but surely, I got noticeably better at everything I did over time.”
Meanwhile, despite TikTokers distancing themselves from Ozempic, many A-listers have been open about their use of weight loss drugs.
Amanda Bynes revealed she lost 28 pounds on Ozempic last December, while Vanessa Williams revealed she lost 28 pounds on Hello! Magazine in January, she said she has been working with Munjaro for the past two years to battle menopausal weight gain.
“This is a game changer,” the 62-year-old actress said. “When I turned 60, I thought, ‘I want to be here for a long time and I want to be in the best shape I can be. So what do I do?’
Brooks Nader has opened up about his use of weight loss drugs multiple times, saying on the reality show “Love Thy Nader”, “I usually microdose GLP-1.”
After the show aired, Nader, 29, told Us Weekly: “I’m still confident and working towards that every day. It’s different now.”
