Brian Tyree Henry is set to produce the adult animated series Bass X Makina for Netflix.
Henry will executive produce and star in the show, which is scheduled to debut on October 6th.
Joining Henry’s voice cast are Janelle Monáe as Glory, Tati Gabrielle as Dana, Cree Summer as Arni, Chaske Spencer as Lighthorse, Callie Graham as Rivenbark, and Starletta Dupois as Etta.
Bus x Machina is set in a lawless steampunk west filled with brutal outlaws, machines, and supernatural horrors. There, the father is forced to become judge, jury, and executioner. He knows that every act of justice to protect his family could ultimately cost him the very people he is fighting to save.
The show’s original music features Wondaland’s Roman Jean-Arthur and Nate Wonder.
LeSean Thomas, Jennifer Wiley-Moxley, and Chad Hundley also serve as executive producers.
Henry is no stranger to the world of animation. In addition to voicing Bus in the upcoming series, Henry also voiced Jefferson Davis in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and its sequel Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. He is set to return in the next film, Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. Henry continued to Variety’s Marc Malkin, saying, “You have to come to a conclusion. You have to come to a conclusion. Can you imagine if you thought, ‘It’s over. He went into the portal, that’s it.’ It’s going to take time, but you have to wait a little bit, you know what I mean? But it’s coming. It’s coming. There’s not going to be a dry eye in the house. I’m going to do it.” Good luck.
The animation production for “Bus x Machina” will be done by South Korean studio Mil.
Henry is repped by Jennifer Wiley Moxley of JWM Entertainment Group, CAA, Jill Frizzo PR, Jackoway Austin and others.
