Brian Austin Green has opened up for the first time about his secret 90s romance with ‘Martin’ star Tichina Arnold.
The “Beverly Hills, 90210” alum, 52, told listeners of his “Funny Knowing You” podcast on Wednesday that he and the actress, 56, “worked together” and met and “became very close.”
“Hip-hop was my world. I was doing hip-hop clubs. I was going to all the places that hip-hop existed. … Normally, you date the people you surround yourself with. So, of course, at the time, I dated the majority of black women because we had common interests.”
However, Green became “uneasy” when Arnold made it clear on opening day that no one could “know” that they were “fucking around.”
“I was in my early 20s, living in a culture that didn’t accept me, but there was no way out of it, because that’s where my brain and heart were.”
“There’s a guy who’s attracted to me, and he’s like, ‘Don’t tell anyone,'” the actor continued. “I think for me, it really triggered things like, ‘Oh, okay. I’m not good enough for any of these. I don’t want my friends to know that I’m playing with them.'”
Although Arnold later “flipped” and was “cool” about going public, Green had already flipped a “subconscious switch” to not consider them a “real relationship.”
Regarding their current position, Green said, “That’s my girlfriend. I’m always rooting for her. She’s always rooting for me.”
A month after Arnold appeared on the same podcast, he broke his silence about their past connection and revealed his “great experience” with Green.
She told host Deon Cole on a December 2025 episode that the “BH90210” star was a “really nice person” but that she was the one who called it quits.
“I said, ‘The reason we came to this dead end is because I saw you dating black women. You’re dating me now, but you’re not going to end up dating a black woman. You’re going to share your wealth and your heritage with white people. So I’m getting off this train,'” Arnold claimed.
She joked, “The ending is really good.”
“Everyone Hates Chris,” said the alum, who “knew (the relationship) wasn’t going to work out” from the beginning.
She added: “I’m attracted to black men. It’s just my natural inclination. At the end of the day, it comes down to pheromones, smell, everything.”
Green has since welcomed children with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil, ex-wife Megan Fox, and fiancée Sharna Burgess, to whom he proposed in June 2023.
Arnold was married to Ramon Brewster from 1991 to 1995 and to Dalico Hines from 2012 to 2016.
