“Breaking Bad” stars Bob Odenkirk and Bryan Cranston appear in “Pluribus” advertisement

It’s a crossover between “Pluribus” – “Breaking Bad” – “Better Call Saul”! (In a sense.)

In a new promotional teaser for Vince Gilligan’s new Apple TV series, Bob Odenkirk, Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, and other actors from the Walter White universe appear on TV to greet Carol Starka, played by Rhea Seehorn.

“Pluribus” follows Carol, who is described as “the most miserable person on the planet,” as she must “save the world from happiness.” When a world-shaking event transforms most of the world’s population into a friendly hive mind, Carol stands up to protect her individuality.

At the end of the first episode, Carol turns on the television and communicates with White House officials, who try to reassure her that she is safe and that there was no alien invasion. Apple TV imitated that scene with a 100-second ad that began with Cranston’s face atop Chiron and the words “Join us.” A montage of hundreds of friendly faces flashes on her screen, including Paul standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Odenkirk and Patrick Fabian, who played Howard Hamlin in “Better Call Saul,” tell Carol: “We just want to make you happy,” says Giancarlo Esposito, who played Gustavo Fring in both Gilligan series, “we’re sorry to have offended you,” and Jonathan Banks, who played Mike Ehrmantraut, makes a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo.

Carol Burnett, who had a memorable season six guest role on “Better Call Saul,” said, “Carol, if you need us, we’re here for you.” And even Drew Barrymore turned to the camera from the set of her talk show and said, “We love you, Carol, we just want you to be happy.”

Seehorn played Kim Wexler for six seasons on Better Call Saul, appearing opposite Odenkirk, Fabian, Esposito, and Ehrmantraut. In the final season of the Breaking Bad prequels, Gilligan overlapped the timelines of his two series, appearing as a surprise guest on Cranston and Paul, and reprising his roles as Walter White and Jesse Pinkman.

“Pluribus” debuted on November 7th with two episodes. Despite this new promotional video, the series isn’t set in the world of Breaking Bad. The series has already been renewed for a second season, and Gilligan told Variety in a wide-ranging interview that he expects the show to go beyond that.
