Searchlight Pictures has released a trailer for Bradley Cooper’s “This Thing On?”
It was inspired by the life of British comedian John Bishop. It focuses on the aftermath of the breakup of a married couple raising two children. Alex (Arnett) takes a wild career pivot to become a stand-up comedian in New York City’s West Village.
The cast is concluded by Christine Eversole, Ciaran Hins, Payton Manning and Amy Sedaris. “Is this on?” written by Cooper, Mark Chapel and Arnett. Cooper also serves as producer alongside Weston Middleton, alongside Arnett and Chris Tikier.
Ahead of the play’s release, the dramatic comedy will host its world premiere at the New York Film Festival on the night of the closing night of the October 10th event at Lincoln Center’s Alistair Hall.
“We are honored and humbled to premiere the film at the New York Film Festival,” Cooper said. “It’s very exciting to debut on the festival’s closing night, as we had a great opportunity to film this story around town earlier this year. NYC injects energy into every aspect of filmmaking that cannot be recreated.”
“Is this on?” marks Cooper’s third supervisory feature behind “A Star Is Born” and “Maestro.” Other notable films with Cooper in front of the camera include “Silver Lining Playbook,” “American Sniper,” and “American Hustle.”
