Bowen Yang created an Emmy history when he landed his fourth acting nomination for Saturday Night Live.

He was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the Comedy Series for his work in a late-night sketch comedy show. With that nomination, Yang is now the most prestigious Asian male performer.

Talking to the Emmys at one house toast in Gold House, he was celebrated with a special recognition. “Today, I found out I am the only AAPI candidate in this year’s acting category.

Last year, “Shougun” shattered Emmy’s record when he brought home 18 trophies. The show also broke Asian representative records. Anna Sawai made history by becoming the first Japanese star to win a Primetime Emmy Award for lead actress. Sanada, following on, became the first Japanese actor to win for the lead actor.

The 2025 Emmy Award nomination offered a historic nomination, but it was the worst in five years for actors of color. Gold House co-founder Bingcheng appeared on the podium and said, “We are also here to remind us that the rising tide actually lifts all the ships. And, as we know, as we know, when one person wins, we can quickly unlock opportunities for all of us.”

Yang, Celeste Im and “Pit” were among those celebrating Shabana Aziz and “Head of War” actor Derek Hinki’s Supriya Ganesh, and Api Emmy nominated community.

In his remarks, Yang praised Gold House, a nonprofit organization committed to promoting and investing in AAPI creators, companies and storytellers. “Whenever I try to explain what Goldhouse is doing to others, I always grab the answer because I was with Bin a few weeks ago. I was introducing him to someone, and I was introducing him to someone, and “In a year when a particular industry feels like it’s not respectful to some of our population, it’s because it’s hard for us to define. And please all of us do the same.”
