JD Pardo is the latest in MGM+’s prequel series Bosch: Start of Watch, Variety reported.
Pardo joins previously announced series stars Cameron Monaghan, Omari Hardwick, and Ariana Guerra. The show follows the life of young Harry Bosch, played by Monaghan, during his time as a rookie in the Los Angeles Police Department.
“Bosch: Start of Watch” is set in Los Angeles in 1991. The official logline reads, “The series will explore a city on the edge of racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured Los Angeles Police Department. Amidst daily calls and rising anxiety, Bosch becomes embroiled in a web of high-profile robberies and criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to his badge and shape his future as a detective living by the code of ‘Everyone Counts or No One Counts.'”
Cory, played by Pardo, is a “brilliant and disciplined professional thief whose calm precision was honed in the foster care system, where he learned at an early age how to read people’s minds, anticipate danger, and control it.” has developed a fierce loyalty to his chosen family. Confident, calculating, and methodical, he plays the role of provider and protector. Every job is a step toward overcoming and breaking out of the turmoil that has shaped him.” ”
Pardo is best known for his role as Ezequiel “EZ” Reyes on FX’s hit series “Mayans MC,” a role he played for five seasons. Pardo also made his directorial debut on the show, taking the helm in the fourth episode of season five. His other television credits include “Drive,” “East Los High,” “Revolution,” “The Terminal List” and “High Potential.” In film, Pardo starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in the Amazon remake of Roadhouse, and has appeared in other films such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 and F9: The Fast Saga.

“Bosch: Start of Watch” is based on Michael Connelly’s Det. A book by Harry Bosch, who created the original series. Production is scheduled to begin later this year in Los Angeles.
Tom Bernardo (Bosch, Bosch: Legacy) and Brian Anthony (Bosch: Legacy, FBI) are co-creators and executive producers of the series, with Bernardo also serving as showrunner. Connery, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Jasmine Rath also serve as executive producers. Teresa Snyder serves as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures.
