“Bosch: Start of Watch” has begun expanding its main cast with the addition of Ariana Guerra to the series.
The Bosch prequel, which will be made into a series on MGM+ in October 2025, stars Cameron Monaghan as Harry Bosch, a young LAPD rookie, and Omari Hardwick as veteran cop Eli Bridges.
“Bosch: Start of Watch” is set in Los Angeles in 1991. The official logline reads, “The series will explore a city on the edge of racial tension, gang violence, and a fractured Los Angeles Police Department. Amidst daily calls and rising anxiety, Bosch becomes embroiled in a web of high-profile robberies and criminal corruption that will test his loyalty to his badge and shape his future as a detective living by the code of ‘Everyone Counts or No One Counts.'”
Guerra will star as Rosa. Rosa is “a rookie LAPD officer, an Angeleno who brings extraordinary maturity and street smarts to the job. Raised in the neighborhoods she patrols, she represents a new generation of police officers in the post-Rodney King city. Beneath her confidence lies a deep insecurity. During her trial period, a budding romance with Bosch threatens her credibility, and Rosa must prove that she can finish what she starts. ”
Guerra has previously appeared on shows such as CBS’ “CSI: Vegas,” Hulu’s “Helstrom,” and ABC’s “Promised Land.” Her other television credits include “Raising Dion,” “9-1-1” and “Tracker.” Next, she will be starring in the Netflix crime drama series ‘Nemesis.’ Guerra has also appeared in films such as “Madres” and “Five Feet Apart.”
She is repped by Pakula King, Gartner Group Entertainment, and Goodman Genow.
“Bosch: Start of Watch” is based on Michael Connelly’s Det. A book by Harry Bosch, who created the original series. Production is scheduled to begin later this year in Los Angeles.
Tom Bernardo (Bosch, Bosch: Legacy) and Brian Anthony (Bosch: Legacy, FBI) are co-creators and executive producers of the series, with Bernardo also serving as showrunner. Connery, Henrik Bastin, Jamie Boscardin Martin and Jasmine Rath also serve as executive producers. Teresa Snyder serves as co-executive producer for Hieronymus Pictures. Casting was handled by Seth Yanklewicz. Produced by Fabel Entertainment.
This is the fourth series in the “Bosch” universe. In addition to the original Amazon Prime Video series, which ran for seven seasons, lead actor Titus Welliver led the spin-off Bosch: Legacy for three seasons. Most recently, the spinoff Ballard, starring Maggie Q as cold case detective Renee Ballard, debuted on Amazon Prime Video in July and was renewed for a second season in early October.
