New details continue to emerge in the disappearance of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie.
The Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday morning that authorities found blood stains inside Nancy’s home, but it was unclear to whom it belonged.
Law enforcement officials also confirmed to the outlet that there were signs of forced entry, further raising concerns that she was the victim of foul play.
Nancy was initially reported missing from her home in Tucson, Arizona, on February 1st and did not show up to church that morning.
According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Savannah was last seen around 9:30 p.m. the night before, when she was dropped off at her Catalina Foothills home after having dinner with her sister, Annie Guthrie. She is believed to be the last person seen before her disappearance.
In an initial press conference, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed they were thoroughly searching the area. However, police involved homicide detectives after discovering a scene that was “a cause for concern for us”.
At the time, Savannah told her Today show co-hosts in a statement: “On behalf of my family, I would like to thank everyone for your thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, my focus is on the safe return of my beloved mother.”
“We appreciate the efforts of law enforcement in this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
By Monday, Nanos acknowledged that they were dealing with a “crime scene,” explaining that “(Nancy) did not leave on her own,” and that “the circumstances at the scene are inherently suspicious.”
He also pointed out that Nancy is “sharp as a tack” and unlikely to walk out on her own. However, she had physical limitations that made it difficult for her to walk more than 50 yards on her own.
At the time, Nanos needed daily medication to ensure his survival, so he begged for his safe return.
On Monday night, a spokesperson for the Pima County Sheriff’s Department told Page Six that investigators believe Nancy was “removed from her home against her will, possibly during the night.”
“This includes the possibility of kidnapping and kidnapping,” the spokesperson added.
Savannah is said to be withdrawing from hosting the Winter Olympics after missing Monday’s “Today” show and traveling to Arizona.
A source exclusively told Page Six that the 54-year-old likely won’t travel to Italy until she finds her mother and that “there’s no way Savannah will be there.”
On Tuesday, she also asked her followers on social media to “please pray” for her mother.
In a long caption, the journalist wrote: “We believe in prayer. We believe in voices raised in unison, filled with love and hope. We believe in goodness. We believe in humanity. And above all, we believe in God.”
She continued, “Thank you for joining our prayers in your prayers for our beloved mother, our beloved Nancy, a woman of deep faith, a good and faithful servant.”
“Please join us in raising your prayers and believe with us that she will be saved by them in this moment,” the NBC personality continued. “We need you.”
She went on to share a Bible verse and said, “The Lord will keep in perfect peace those who trust in him and are hard-hearted.”
Savannah added, “It’s a passage from Isaiah that will last for all of us.”
